Leaf & Bark Prints

Here is an oldie but a goodie.

These leaf/bark prints have been, and always will be an awesome activities for all ages. There are so many cool textures and patterns to make art with, all around you. Feel a tree, it has grooves, bumps, and lines. That will create such an amazing picture just by taking a crayon and a piece of paper, and rubbing it against the tree. It’s the simple things that make us happy.

Not to mention how you can make gorgeous paintings with some leaves just by dipping them in paint and pressing them on paper. This will show lots of details if you spread just a bit of paint evenly over the leaves.

Here’s where trees keep us rooted and help us stay connected with one another. We took our leaf and bark prints to create cards, letters, and even bookmarks.

Now this is an activity that we’ve never tried until now, but it is really neat, and we think you’ll want to try it too. It’s leaf printing on fabric.

 All you need is:

  • A piece of white fabric

  • A rock or a hammer

  • Some bright leaves

  • Masking tape

Go outside and collect your leaves, and arrange them underneath the fabric on a hard surface like a big piece of wood. Cover and attach each leaf entirely with the masking tape to the fabric where you want them. Now take your rock or hammer, and carefully hit the fabric with a good amount of force so that the colour of the leaves starts showing on the fabric. What a great way to get your frustrations out and can be turned into a DIY printed t-shirt, table cloth, or even napkins! Soak in a bowl of white vinegar and cold water first to make sure the colour doesn’t fade or wash out.

BONUS ACTIVITY!

Collect some sticks and twine. After you finish making these amazing prints you can proudly display them in your very own eco-friendly picture frame or on a banner.
